Monday, 14. The forerunner of diversity training, Elliot rose to prominence following a mythical 1992 appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show that left audience members shocked by their own subconscious biases. Elliot’s appearance on the series, in which she ran the now-famous”Brown Eyes – Blue Eyes” exercise, has been seen by millions of people throughout the country. The exercise has become the basis for a lot of what’s now considered diversity and inclusion training. Elliot has worked with businesses like General Electric, Exxon, AT&T, and IBM, and has hosted workshops into the FBI, IRS, U. S. Navy, U. Department of Education, along with also the U. Postal Service. The internationally recognized lecturer is a recipient of the National Mental Health Association Award for Excellence in Education for the job exposing prejudice and bigotry for what it really is: an irrational course system based upon only arbitrary aspects.
